CBD & CBG
What are the differences?
Our full spectrum hemp offers a natural way to enhance your wellness routine. We cultivate quality strains of hemp that provide higher levels of CBD and CBG components, contributing to the potency of each handcrafted product.
What is CBD?
CBD, or cannabidiol, is a non-intoxicating component of the cannabis plant, which includes both hemp and marijuana. CBD is one of over one hundred "phytocannabinoids," naturally occurring compounds unique to the cannabis plant. Unlike another well-known component, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), CBD does not cause psychoactive effects. Its properties have made it a focus of ongoing research and a popular ingredient in wellness products.

What's the difference?
CBD
CBD, or cannabidiol, is one of the many cannabinoids found in the cannabis sativa plant. Unlike THC, CBD is non-psychoactive and does not produce a "high."CBD interacts with the body’s endocannabinoid system, a complex network of receptors and enzymes involved in maintaining balance within various bodily functions. This interaction has been the focus of ongoing research into CBD's potential applications.
The non-psychoactive properties of CBD make it a popular choice for those seeking plant-based products to support general wellness.
While research is still evolving, CBD has been explored for its potential to address various areas of interest, such as stress management, physical comfort, and promoting relaxation.
Potential uses of CBD
- Supporting relaxation
- Promoting a balaned mood
- Supporting overall comfort
- Encouraging restful sleep
- addressing general inflammation
CBG
CBG, or cannabigerol, is a less abundant cannabinoid found in cannabis. CBG is formed through the decarboxylation process of CBGA (cannabigerolic acid), which is also the precursor of THCA (tetrahydrocannabinolic acid), CBDA (cannabidiolic acid), and CBCA (cannabichromenic acid). Decarboxylation is the process that converts components of cannabis through heat and time.
Unlike CBD, which primarily interacts indirectly with the endocannabinoid system, CBG is thought to directly interact with cannabinoid receptors in the body.
One challenge with producing CBG is the small yield; it is often found below 1% by weight in a common strain. This makes production expensive and labor-intensive. We work with breeders who are developing hemp strains with increased CBG components to create products that can incorporate CBG effectively.
Potential uses of CBG
- Supporting eye health
- Addressing general inflammation
- Promoting overeall well-being
- Supporting nervous system function
Full Spectrum Hemp
Full spectrum hemp extract incorporates the whole hemp plant, which, in addition to CBD, includes a variety of other cannabinoids, terpenes, and essential oils. Unlike isolated CBD oil, full spectrum hemp extract is thought to provide a broader range of compounds, which may work together in what is known as the "entourage effect." This effect suggests that consuming multiple cannabinoids together may influence the overall experience of the extract.
Terpenes and essential oils are also components of full spectrum hemp oil, contributing to its flavor and aroma, among other qualities. Some common terpenes in hemp include limonene, humulene, myrcene, and ocimene.
Full spectrum hemp extract includes additional components, such as vitamins, minerals, fiber, fatty acids, chlorophyll, and flavonoids. CBD isolate, on the other hand, contains only the CBD component. Offering full spectrum hemp oil allows us to provide a more comprehensive approach with our CBD products.
